Roth was born in New York, and was raised in Barrington, Illinois. Her mother, Barbara Ross, is a painter.
Roth is best known for her debut novel Divergent, as well as its sequel, insurgent. On April 17, 2013, the title of the third and final novel of the trilogy was revealed to be called Allegiant. It will be published on October 22, 2013.
She is also the recipient of the Goodreads 2011 Choice Awards. Roth was raised in Barrington Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and wrote her first book, Divergent, while she was supposed to be doing her homework for Northwestern University.
Roth has sold the film rights to the Divergent series to Summit Entertainment. Filming of Divergent, an adaptation of the first book in the series, was started in April 2013.
Roth has also published a short story titled “Free Four: Tobias Tells the Divergent Knife-Throwing Scene” and “The Transfer” Following up on Tobias’ life prior to Divergent.
Roth is originally from Barrignton and graduated from Barrignton High school. After attending a year of college at Carleton College she transferred to Northwestern University for its creative writing program.She is married to photographer Nelson Fitch. and resides in the Chicago area.
Veronica Roth wrote four short stories from Tobias “Four” Eaton’s point of view. The Transfer is the first of four short stories and was released on September 3, 2013.
